It looks like Greece is the last place on Earth where Absolut Vodka advertise classic original ads. ABSOLUT PARADISE (tropical island shaped as absolut bottle) can be found in Cosmopolitan 09/06 (Greek version). The absolut paradise ad can also be seen on many signboards and bus stations all over athens, especially in places near the beach. For information thanks to Themis.
White version of “THE ABSOLUT” ad appeared in Rolling Stone (9/7/06; USA). Hey, what about something new? Where is the ingenuity? Come on - you can do more unique ads. Let’s hope this autumn The Absolut Company will try to advertise some clever ads again because this series of latest ads is quite boring.
Themis from Greece just send me this information to share with you: “Today I have some more news from Cyprus. ABSOLUT CATTELAN can be found in MAN magazine (aug-sept 2006). And in Omikron-Antras magazine 08/2006 Find Your Flavor mixed ad with absolut coctail attached (see scans for the citron version), can be found but with a new coctail. This is the ad with absolut raspberri coctail, called Absolut Raspberri Seabreeze. Its the same ad but the attached part is different. on the front (folded), instead of the citron bottle picture there is the picture of the raspberri bottle and on the back (unfolded) different coctail recipe and picture. The scans that I’m sending are for the citron version, the one I already described which, as I told you, can be found in Omikron-Antras magazine 07/2006. So I think we can excpect a vanillia version too.”

Last week I told you about latest ad from Greece called ABSOLUT MITROPOULOS. I showed you quite different image then the ad realy looks. I found official image from the Absolut Label collection which looks exactly same as the ad description I recieved by mail. See the image here.
Today I have got the real magazine ad in my hands and the ad is different. They made new photo and the ad looks fantastic. After six or more months I am happy again ;) See the real ABSOLUT MITROPOULOS ad.
Forget 25 years of creative, clever, award winnings ads. Somone got crazy and trying to make boring “cool” ads for ABSOLUT VODKA. Let’s see another ads from this campaign: THE ABSOLUT VODKA was issued in Entertainment Weekly (8/4/06; USA). Two page version THE ABSOLUT VODKA can be found in Vogue (8/06; USA).
There was no classic ad with the bottle on the black background in the spot of the light for at least 8 months in USA nor any ad with things in the shape of the bottle.
As for Cyprus, ther are many ads - old and new - in several magazines:
In MAN Magazine 06/06 ABSOLUT TRACKS.COM can be found. In Must Magazine 07/06 ABSOLUT SPA can be found. In Omikron Magazine 07/06 and Cosmopolitan Cyprus 08/06 a another ad can be found. It is called ABSOLUT CATTELAN and shows a mouse sitting inside an open, empty Absolut bottle holding a glass with one hand and its head with the other.
In Must Magazine 08/06 and Omikron 08/06 can be found “FIND YOUR FLAVOR” mix ad with citron, vanilia and raspberri. This same ad can also be found on the back of the cover of Omikron-Antras Magazine 07/06 but with something extra. An extra 1/3 of a page is attached on the edge of the cover and folds in the inside above 1/3 of the ad. On it there is a picture of Absolut Citron Bottle and “Absolut Cocktail is written above. When you unfold it, on the other side of this 1/3 page there is a picture and the recipe of Absolut Cosmopolitan cocktail.
In Greece there is a new ad that can be found in most magazines. It is called ABSOLUT MITROPOULOS. It shows a woman(model) wearing a set of underwear designed by the Greek Fashion designer Apostolos Mitropoulos. The model is sitting with her back turned towards the camera and her corset-like bra ties in the back shaping an Absolut vodka bottle. (See the image used for this ad here.)
This ad can be found in Nitro Magazine (July 2006, Greece), but as it happens with other Greek ads, I’m sure that it will appear in all the popular magazines of Greece.
Under the ad text “ABSOLUT MITROPOULOS”, in smaller letters it is

Aristos Mitropoulos (Athens 1977) graduated from fashion college Veloudakis in ’97 and started designing costumes for various party performances and theatre while working as a stylist for TV, commercials, magazines and several fasion brands like Levi’s. All this turned out good preparation for the fashion arena which he entered with his first show in Paris at the Caroussel du Louvre for spring-summer 2001. In 2003 Mitrolpoulos became a member of the Hellenic Fashion Designers Association and up until today he keeps his multi disciplined styling and design practice in pace.
There is a special funny micro site on Absolut.com where you have to find 82 hidden Absolut bottles in one image. This image called ABSOLUT SEARCH was issued as a two page magazine ad. There is in People en Español 8/06 the ad Find your Flavor but in Spanish DESCUBRE TU SABOR, one page whit Absolut Raspberri, Apeach, Mandrin, Vanilia and Citron.
