The Swedish distiller has picked Miami, the U.S. capital of Latin music and entertainment, to debut Absolut Ritmos (Absolut Rhythms), a music-based promotional campaign that will go national later this year. Under the Absolut Ritmos banner, the company will sponsor multimedia performances that bring together a video jockey, Latin percussionists who jam with deejays and a choreographed dance troupe.
The campaign was kicked off Jan. 28 with an Absolut Akademi training session at Nikki Beach for 50 bartenders from Absolut’s local accounts and other key customers. Next stop for Absolut Ritmos is New York City, where it will launch in late May/early June, and then it’s on to other major Hispanic markets.
There will also be Spanish and English print and radio ads, and the campaign features ”wearables,” too — necklaces, guayabera shirts and tees. Graphic images for Absolut Ritmos print campaign have been designed by leading Hispanic artists.

It looks like in next few weeks we can expect new Vanilia ad called Absolut Persistence. Read this description: Wooden spoons and vanilla ice cream may go together, but these spoons are no match for ABSOLUT VANILIA. Little wooden spoons attempt to take on ABSOLUT VANILIA. They fly at the bottle from all angles, try to jackhammer and drill their way in, but to no avail. The invincible bottle prevails. Persistence pays off.
The Absolut Picture cinema campaign was introduced in 1998 and The Mulit (download the movie - 9MB MOV) is the fifth cinema commercial presented in the campaign and directed by Ivan Zacharias. The other commercials are: Hey Stranger directed by Sam Raimi, Beat Crazy directed by Tarsem, Good morning Mr. Grubner directed by Tom DiCilla and Farewell Casanova directed by Spike Lee.
The 60 second spot is currently airing in the US and a10 minute short is set to trailer at cinemas shortly. Shot entirely on location in India, Mulit is set in Bombay during the late 70’s and tells the story of how the Mullet haircut came into being. The Bollywood style musical recounts how smooth talking hairdresser Mulit accidentally invents the style, after he falls in love with the prime ministers daughter.
The commercial and short film all feature numerous bottle shapes hidden in the background of the action. Some were shot for real, but approximately 30 bottle shots were added by a team of Mill flame artists. The bottle shapes can be seen in the wallpaper and linoleum flooring and there are also bottle shaped turrets, arches and doorways in the Indian palace.
Due to the length of the short and the level of detail of work required at HD resolution, the spots required extensive flame work, which included de-grading the footage and adding in film breaks and weaves. Also, having thoroughly referenced original Bollywood footage, the team then carried out a secondary grade to match real vintage Bollywood movie material. The authentic Bollywood look of the dream sequence was achieved by using a digital pro-mist filter effect and theatrical moonlit skies were tracked and composited for the jail breakout sequence. 3D work included creating CG birds, which fly over the palace.
