May 20, 2005 May 20, 2005 Absolut Icon: New Latin American ads ahead

Absolut IconThis information appeared in latest issue of Absolut Vodka newsletter called Absolut News (#2/2005).

The ABSOLUT CLASSICS campaign featured artists like Judas Priest, David Bowie and Miles Davis - artists of global fame. When Latin America launches a similar campaign - ABSOLUT ICON - the featured artists are heroes in that part of the world, but perhaps less well-known to the rest of us. Charly Garc’s, Amigos Invisibles, Los Jaivas, Fiel a La Vega, Fobia, Aterciopelados will be representing Argentina, Venezuela, Chile, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Colombia respectively. Six countries, and six national icons. ABSOLUT has redesigned a familiar record sleeve by each artist and converted them into magazine adverts. Nina Gillsvik Communications Manager for Latin America.

“It feels very appropriate to work with music, which, after all, is so vital to people in Latin America. Art and fashion are important in some countries, but music is relevant to so many.”

Absolut Vodka opened special micro site dedicated to Absolut Icon on absolut.com/icon. You can see all ads and original album covers, listen to audio tracks, see the video presentations, download wallpapers and screensavers… So now we have a small quest for all collectors. Who will be able to find these ads? They were (will be?) issued in exotic countries. If you will find any information let us know. Hunt for six Latin American ads begins ;) Absolut Charly, Absolut Amigos Invisibles, Absolut Fobia, Absolut Jaivas, Absolut Fiel A La Vega, Absolut Aterciopelados.
